1394 is the IEEE designation for the high performance serial bus. This serial bus defines both a backplane physical layer and a point-to-point cable-connected virtual bus. The cable version supports data rates of 100, 200 and 400 Mbps across the cable medium supported in the current standard. Both versions are totally compatible at the link layer and above. The interface standard defines transmission method, media and protocol. The primary application of the cable version is the integration of I/O connectivity at the back panel of Personal Computers using a low-cost, integrate, high-speed serial interface. The 1394 standard also provides new services such as real time I/O and live connect/disconnect capability for external devices including disk drives, printers and hand-held peripherals such as scanners and cameras.

Our USB 2.0 Hi-Speed CardBus card gives your notebook increased functionality and greater mobility. USB 2.0 offers a dramatic performance increase over version USB 1.1. USB 1.1 has a max speed of only 12Mbits p/s, whereas USB 2.0 offers speeds up to 480Mbits p/s. USB, standing for "Universal Serial Bus", allows you to attach multiple peripheral devices simultaneously all with automatic device detection and installation. Our USB 2.0 Hi-Speed CardBus card is also "backwards-compatible". This means that you can plug in your older USB peripherals and your new USB 2.0 Hi-Speed peripherals into the same computer with no loss in performance of either.
